Inland Rail bridge replacement: crane lift and structure details

The replacement structure — the Broadford-Wandong Road bridge — has been assembled on site from 41 girders. It is 35 metres long, 14.5 metres wide and weighs about 246 tonnes. The lift will be carried out using a 600-tonne crawler crane, as reported by Rail Express.

Double-stacked freight train clearance and local upgrades at Wandong

Inland Rail says the bridge replacement is intended to provide enough clearance for double-stacked freight trains to use the rail line. Alongside the new span, the plan also includes local upgrades — a shared use path, intersection improvements and additional open community space extending to Pickett Walk — with wider Victorian milestones also covered by Railway Supply.
