Indore Metro priority corridor inspection advances launch plans
11.01.2026
Indore Metro priority corridor inspection by Managing Director Shri S. Krishna Chaitanya concluded after a three-day site review of construction progress and operational preparedness, as reported by RailAnalysis.

Across the corridor, the inspection focused on civil works, system integration, and station readiness as the city prepares to launch its first metro services. The visit also underscored the government’s focus on timely, high-quality delivery.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Over the three days, Shri Chaitanya reviewed ongoing activity at stations along the corridor and checked safety and quality standards. He also directed teams to close gaps, improve coordination, and stay aligned with strict timelines. Officials accompanying the Managing Director provided updates on station development, track work, and system installations.

Indore Metro priority corridor nearing completion
The Indore Metro is planned as an urban mobility upgrade intended to ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and offer a safe, reliable, and efficient rapid-transit option. Drawing on experience from metro systems across India, it is designed to reshape commuting habits while supporting sustainable urban growth and improving day-to-day connectivity.
According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the full Indore Metro network will include six metro lines spanning 124.43 kilometers. The proposed system is intended to connect residential areas with commercial hubs, transport terminals, and cultural landmarks to support smoother movement across the city.
Yellow Line (Line-3) prioritized for Phase One
Phase One centers on the Indore Metro Yellow Line (Line-3), prioritized because it runs through high-density traffic corridors and key public destinations. In the early stage, the line is expected to serve as the backbone of Indore’s metro operations.
Key features of the Yellow Line include:
▪ Circular route connecting major hubs: Bengali Square, Palasia, Airport, Vijay Nagar, Rajwada, and Gandhi Nagar
▪ Total stations: 28 stations, comprising 21 elevated and 7 underground stations
▪ Depot location: Gandhi Nagar
▪ Route alignment: Gandhi Nagar → Malviya Nagar → Indore Railway Station → Rajwada → Airport → Gandhi Nagar
This circular connectivity is expected to reduce travel time and improve accessibility between major parts of the city.
6.3-km elevated corridor from Gandhi Nagar to SC-3
A major highlight of Phase One is the 6.3-kilometer elevated Priority Corridor between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor-3 (SC-3), a segment also outlined in the project profile from Railway Technology. Most of the civil works on this section are nearing completion, marking a crucial milestone toward operational metro services—an update consistent with what Railway Supply has noted on recent progress. Once opened, the corridor is expected to serve as the first functional segment of the Indore Metro and give residents an early experience of metro travel.
Overall, the Indore Metro priority corridor inspection points to steady momentum. With the priority corridor nearing completion and the Yellow Line progressing, Indore is moving closer to launching a modern transit system designed to redefine urban mobility and commuting across the city.
