Diesel fuel release and crew injuries

Diesel fuel was released due to the accident. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency was notified and is assisting on scene. One of the two rail cars that did not derail was carrying argon. It is a colorless, odorless, non-flammable, and chemically inert noble gas. It poses a major risk of asphyxiation by displacing oxygen, particularly in confined spaces.
