C2C and DLR disruption will affect East London on several April and May weekends. Sections of rail and DLR track between Fenchurch Street and West Ham will close for engineering work. The aim is to improve service reliability.

C2C and DLR disruption dates and works

As MyLondon reported, the East London rail closures are scheduled for April 4-5, April 11-12 and April 18-19. The closures will also take place on May 9-10 and May 16-17. The work includes overhead line work, track maintenance, bridge repairs and platform refurbishment at Limehouse station. At the same time, Thames Water engineers will use the closure period for sewer maintenance near West Ham.

Meanwhile, many journeys are expected to take longer. Passengers are advised to check TfL Go, City Mapper or the National Rail website before travelling. Also, the same sections of National Rail track will close on each listed date. On Sunday, April 12, several service patterns will differ. Separately, DLR closures will also apply.

National Rail closures on affected weekends

Sunday, April 12

For example, Basildon line services will run via Grays on Sunday, April 12. They will not call at Upminster, West Horndon, Laindon or Basildon. According to National Rail, replacement buses will run between Upminster and Pitsea via Laindon. Also, District line ticket acceptance will be in place between Barking and Upminster.

Meanwhile, Ockedon line services will run via Tilbury. They will not call at Upminster, Ockendon or Chafford Hundred. Also, shuttle trains will run between Upminster and Grays. In addition, District line ticket acceptance will again apply between Barking and Upminster.

Also, Rainham line services will be diverted to Liverpool Street on Sunday, April 12. They will call at Stratford, not at Limehouse or West Ham. Meanwhile, they will extend to Shoeburyness. In addition, ticket acceptance will be available on the District line, Jubilee line and DLR.

Other listed dates

Separately, on all other listed dates, Basildon line services will be diverted to Liverpool Street. They will call at Stratford, not at Limehouse or West Ham. Also, ticket acceptance will be in place on those services. It will apply on the District line and Jubilee line. It will also apply on the DLR via Stratford and West Ham.

Meanwhile, shuttle trains will run between Upminster and Grays. Passengers are encouraged to change there for services towards London or Southend. Also, Rainham line services will be diverted to Liverpool Street. They will call at Stratford, not at Limehouse or West Ham. In addition, they will extend to Southend Central on Saturdays. They will extend to Shoeburyness on Sundays. Also, ticket acceptance will be in place on the District line, Jubilee line and DLR.

DLR closures across April and May

According to TfL’s planned track closures, this section will close from Friday, April 3 to Wednesday, April 8. It runs from Bank and Tower Gateway to Poplar and West India Quay. Separately, the same section will close again from Saturday, April 11 to Sunday, April 12.

Meanwhile, Bank to Shadwell services will not run on Saturday, April 18 or Sunday, April 19. On Sunday, April 19, no services will run between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal. They will also stop between Poplar and Beckton. Also, Tower Gateway to Shadwell trains will not run on Sunday, May 10. The same closure will apply on Sunday, May 17.
