Ukrzaliznytsia announced a tender in the Prozoro system for the purchase of 100 new passenger railcars with a total cost of UAH 3.044 billion (EUR 90 million). The auctions are scheduled to take place on May 5th. The specified delivery time for rolling stock is until December 31, 2021. This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to an announcement in the electronic public procurement system.

The purchase is divided into 4 lots. Most of all, it is planned to purchase by lot No. 1 – 51 compartment sleeping cars. Other lots contain 12 high-comfort sleeping cars and 37 cars for the transportation of passengers with disabilities, including 17 – staff cars. The criterion for choosing the winner is 100% determined by the price.

“Commercial offers to domestic and foreign manufacturers, in particular Kryukovsky and Kharkov railcar-building plants, Siemens, Pesa and others, have already been sent out,” says the information on the announcement of the tender posted on the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The transport department adds that among the main requirements for the production of passenger cars: “sockets and USB ports at each seat; modern air conditioning system; adaptive entrance for people with limited mobility; increased volume of the luggage compartment; vacuum toilets; lighting control in 4 modes in compartments; video surveillance systems, etc. “.

However, it is added that “the number of railcars purchased based on the results of the tender will depend on the total amount of budget funding, since the approval of the Procedure for the use of budget funds under this budget program is still ongoing.” “In order not to waste time, Ukrzaliznytsia announced a tender on February 25 with a deadline for applications until March 30, and the auction itself is scheduled for May 5,” the information of the Ministry of Infrastructure says.
