Ukraine may allocate more than UAH 51 billion to upgrade passenger cars and infrastructure

The Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution “On the Budget Declaration for 2022-2024”. Within its framework, Ukrzaliznytsia may receive over UAH 51 billion in the next 3 years for the renovation of passenger cars and infrastructure. This was reported by Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Ivan Yurik.

Ukrzaliznytsia has UAH 34 billion of debts

According to the head of the company, the budget declaration, in particular, provides for the allocation of almost 50.6 billion UAH for the renewal of passenger rolling stock and infrastructure and almost 645 million UAH for the construction of a eurotrack from Chop to Uzhgorod, reports Railway Supply.

“This support of the unprofitable passenger route by the state is a worldwide practice, which gives the railway the opportunity to develop and provide high-quality passenger transportation services. Moreover, it will help us to continue the modernization of the company and its further reforming, “- said the Acting Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”. As emphasized in the message, it is planned to purchase 100 passenger cars in 2021 for the funds of the State budget (Ukrzaliznytsya has already signed an agreement with KVSZ for the supply), and in the next two years – 568 railcars, 5 high-speed trains, 43 suburban electric trains and 18 suburban diesel trains, subject to the allocation of these funds.
