The rolling stock fleet in Ukraine was replenished with almost 300 cars in October
In October this year the fleet of freight cars in Ukraine increased due to the replenishment of new rolling stock.
More than 290 cars built in 2021 and about 60 older cars were included in the general fleet last month. At the same time, more than 130 cars were written off (excluded from the working fleet). Most of them are built in the 1980s, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to Railinsider.
Almost all of the new cars have been ordered by private companies. The most popular types of rolling stock are open-top wagons, grain carriers and fitting platforms. Tank cars prevail among the wagons withdrawn from the fleet.
In general, the dynamics of change in the number of wagons in Ukraine is positive – more than 200 units have started to work.
As previously reported, as a result of the implementation of the renovation program proposed by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” until 2028, it is planned to write off 38,670 gondola cars and 18,772 grain carriers.
