Large-scale renewal of rolling stock, state wagon leasing program, expansion of repair facilities and cooperation with Deutsche Bahn: key statements made at the Ukrainian forum “Big Construction: New Railway”.

UZ will receive three railcars (diesel trains DPKR-3) by the end of the year, another 20 will be ordered for 2022-2023. This year, Ukrzaliznytsia will receive 20 new sleeping cars – the first of the announced hundred. There are plans to build another 500 in the next two years. ”

“Starting next year, we will begin a large-scale program to reset the fleet of freight cars. This is 46 thousand new gondola cars and grain carriers, a market of over UAH 100 billion. ($ 3.8 million). We understand that this program will not work without an accessible and clear leasing mechanism – we are laying it down, planning in the 2022 budget. ” According to the infographic provided by the Minister, within the framework of the program in 2022-2028 it is planned to update 31.2 thousand gondola cars and 14.6 thousand grain carriers. “Today, the level of localization in the production of freight cars reaches 95%, and all companies in this chain are Ukrainian – from the production of small components and ending with metal.”

In order to upgrade the rolling stock of Ukrzaliznytsia in the coming years it is planned to produce 500 new sleeping cars, overhaul 150 cars and upgrade 60 trains, purchase 80 electric trains and 20 diesel trains.

“We have prepaid five new diesel trains (DPKR-3), the first two have already been taken away. They will soon go on regional express trains. We are negotiating with local authorities, we want them to join the co-financing of our regional express trains. We need to find a model that will allow us to co-finance new trains based on the PSO model. ”

“It is a task to buy at least 10 high-speed trains and organize a normal service model at once. Therefore, we set an ambitious task in the coming years to complete the long-term construction, which stands for 10 years on the territory of our depot in Darnytsia – the so-called “Third Shop”, which has already spent more than a billion, but to no avail. The launch of this shop will allow to fully service new high-speed trains.”
