The fleet of CZ Loko locomotives, used by Dinazzano Po, is destined to increase: Tper has in fact ordered four additional locomotives from the Czech manufacturer for its own freight railway company.

It is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to ferrovie.it.

Two 744 EffiShunter 1000 Diesel locomotives will be added by 2022 to the four 744s of Tper that have been operating for some time in the Dinazzano Po orange livery, as well as to the three 744s of Tper in the green livery, which are instead operated by Trenitalia Tper.

When these two locomotives are delivered, the total number of EffiShunter 1000 Diesel locomotives on Italian railway lines will rise to 31.

At the same time, Tper also ordered two DualShunter 2000 locomotives from CZ Loko for delivery by 2024.

This is the bimodal version equipped with a pantograph, which keeps the characteristics of the Diesel engine unchanged, but allows 2200 kW to be developed on electrified lines.

Dinazzano Po will thus become the second Italian railway company to use the DualShunter 2000 locomotive: Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal had in fact ordered the first two locomotives of this type in 2021, which will presumably be used for shunting and line services in the ports of La Spezia. and Carrara.

According to rumors, CZ Loko is studying new versions for this successful locomotive platform, with particular attention to the energy transition: in addition to the HydrogenShunter fuel cell version, there would also be a DualHybrid bimodal version, in which the pantograph is combined with a battery pack, with performance similar to that of the diesel engine, which would therefore be eliminated.

In this case, the pantograph would therefore have the dual task of ensuring traction in the presence of a catenary, as well as allowing a very rapid recharging of the batteries.
