CZ LOKO shunting locomotives for PKP Intercity

As reported by Railmarket, CZ LOKO has secured an order from PKP Intercity for 18 EffiShunters 1000 diesel locomotives. They are intended for shunting duties in Poland. The company is also taking part in a Swiss tender from SBB Cargo. That procurement covers up to 55 electric-battery shunting locomotives.

The locomotives ordered in Poland will handle passenger rolling stock at PKP Intercity facilities. In addition, the procurement follows an earlier PKP Intercity order for 10 two-axle EffiShunters 300 diesel shunters from CZ LOKO. These operate in Poland under the SM60 designation.

SBB Cargo tender covers electric-battery shunters

In Switzerland, CZ LOKO is competing for a contract covering dual shunting locomotives. These units combine electric traction with battery-powered operation. The new vehicles would be used for both shunting and single wagonload services. Meanwhile, they would replace older Am 843 diesel locomotives, according to a separate Railmarket report on the SBB Cargo procurement.

The SBB Cargo tender forms part of CZ LOKO’s planned expansion in western Europe. The company is pursuing tenders for dual and diesel locomotives in several markets, including Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Poland.
