Stadler and Rail Operations sign contract for new tri-mode locomotives
18.01.2021
Stadler and Rail Operations Limited (UK) have signed a framework agreement for the supply of thirty tri-mode Class 93 locomotives that will meet the decarbonization requirements of the UK railways. An initial batch of 10 locomotives should be delivered in early 2023, informs railway magazine «Railway Supply » with reference to Rail Operations press release.

The improved locomotives will significantly reduce CO2 emissions for rail transport.
The locomotives will operate both on electrified lines and equipped with diesel engines, as well as batteries for “last mile” transportation. Their capacity is 4 MW, and their speed is up to 180 km/h.
