Škoda wins tram contract for Brno

Škoda Transportation Group will produce up to 40 ForCity Smart trams for the Czech city of Brno. The first five trams will be delivered by February 2023. Further deliveries will be carried out in accordance with the financial capabilities of the customer. The total cost of the framework agreement is 2.4 billion Czech crowns (93 million euros), informs railway magazine Railway Supply, citing information from Škoda Transportation.

Low floor ForCity Smart trams are equipped with control cabins on both sides. They can accommodate up to 233 passengers, 64 of which are seated, and have a top speed of 70 km/h. There are air conditioners, video cameras and information boards.

Brno will join other Czech and foreign cities where this rolling stock in operation: Ostrava, Plzen, Helsinki, Tampere, Bonn, Mannheim.
