Reform of the railway industry in Ukraine should be accelerated

Reforming the railway industry in Ukraine should be accelerated and implemented taking into account national legislation and European standards, says member of the board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” Frantisek Buresh, reports Railway Supply    magazine with reference to the press service of UZ.

According to Frantisek Bures, rail transportation in Ukraine should be completely liberalized. This, in turn, will be facilitated by the adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On Railway Transport” (new edition).

“The company needs to be reformed so that it meets European standards. We are striving for this and the reform continues, ”he added.

The railway market should have an independent infrastructure vertical under state control, where carriers of any form of ownership should operate with transparent tariffs. Such transparency will improve and demonopolize the market, which will allow private carriers and the country’s economy to develop.
