French startup Railcoop is set to launch its first rail freight service later this year. If the plans come true, the next stage in 2022 will be the launch of intercity passenger services on the Bordeaux – Lyon route, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to the Railway Gazette.

Railcoop is a public initiative for the restoration and development of rail transport in France, which, as of January 2021, unites over 4.5 thousand participants.

The operator plans to provide its own drivers and traction services. Four-axle locomotives Vossloh G1206 are considered as rolling stock for freight transportation, and Alstom Coradia Liner for passenger ones.
