“Promvagontrans” is another participant in the private traction project

The company “Promvagontrans”, which was identified as the second participant in the pilot project for the admission of private traction to work on the public railways of Ukrzaliznytsia, will use four diesel locomotives 2TE116 in its four directions, informs Railway Supply magazine citing information from the CFTS.

“We own four 2TE116 locomotives produced by Luganskteplovoz. This is by far the most powerful locomotive used on the Ukrainian railways. Purchased in the Baltic countries, these machines are in perfect condition – all the planned types of locomotive repairs were carried out properly, “- quotes the publication of the director of the company Ivan Skibu.

He noted that the available locomotives for Promvagontrans at the initial stage of the experiment will be sufficient, and the expansion of the locomotive fleet is possible if there is a corresponding need.

One of the locomotives is 2TE116-1366. This locomotive was built in 1988, leased by Baltijas Ekspresis (Latvia), and also operated by the Estonian company E.R.S. AS, part of Liwathon, the largest private operator of oil product terminals in the Baltic States.

“Promvagontrans” received a permit for cargo transportation on the directions Nizhyn – Priluki – Grebenka – T.Shevchenko – Pomoshnaya, Bakhmach-Passenger – Priluki, Gadyach named after Sergienko N.I. – Lokhvitsa – Romodan – Kremenchug, Bakhmach-Passenger – Lokhvitsa. The company transports only grain cargo and products of their processing.
