President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new locomotive depot

Azerbaijan Railways has opened a new locomotive depot in Balajari.
The opening was attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, reports the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to azertag.az.
The Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov informed President Ilham Aliyev of the conditions created in the new locomotive depot in Balajari.

It was noted that locomotives would be inspected and repaired in the new depot. The commissioning of the first such depot in the CIS in Azerbaijan is one of the steps taken in connection with the transition to the 4th industrial revolution.
Solar panels are installed in the depot, so that the generated energy is used. The necessary infrastructure has been created here, modern equipment from leading world companies has been installed.
Azerbaijan Railway to build new marshalling yard
The construction of the depot was carried out within the framework of the project “Construction of two depots for 50 locomotives – locomotives of Balajari and Ganja”.
38 modern Alstom locomotives, 28 freight and 10 passenger locomotives have already been delivered to Azerbaijan.In general, the commissioning of this depot will save energy resources, simplify operation, increase the speed of trains and, as a result, increase the efficiency of freight and passenger traffic, and increase the capacity of locomotives.
The depot will employ about 150 highly qualified workers trained abroad.It should be noted that the new Bilajari locomotive depot will also play an important role in the modernization of the railway infrastructure.
