LE TRAIN, France’s leading private high-speed train operator, and Talgo, a European rolling stock designer and manufacturer, today signed an agreement in Bordeaux on the future development of a fleet of high-speed trains adapted to the French market and based on Avril’s leading high-speed train platform. Railway Supply magazine writes about this with reference to Kurier Kolejowy.

Le Train

The two companies today signed an agreement for the possible future purchase of a fleet of up to ten high-speed trains with possible expansion and equipment maintenance in France, as well as the establishment of a joint research and development unit in France. New Aquitaine will work on the most efficient and sustainable mobile transport of the future: the train.

Financial sustainability of railways in question due to high energy prices

LE TRAIN passengers will board the AVRIL, a collection of technology and innovation known for its high reliability, quality equipment, energy efficiency and modern, sophisticated design. After the respective contracts are signed, the construction of the first ten trains will start in the first half of 2023 at the Talgo plant in Rivabellos (Alava). The first trains will leave its workshops in early 2025.
