Kubrakov confirms intention to purchase capsule railcars for Ukrzaliznytsia
After visiting KVSZ, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov announced his commitment to launch at least a three-year planning of a state order to upgrade Ukrzaliznytsia’s fleet of cars and locomotives.
As part of such a government order, it is planned to purchase capsule passenger cars, reports Railway Supply magazine.
“Among the new formats are capsule railcars, which are beginning to conquer the world, and we have a chance to be among the first to try this format, many times more comfortable than a sleeping car or a classic compartment,” said Kubrakov.
Earlier Oleksandr Kamyshyn, Acting Chairman of the Board of UZ, also stated that MIU and UZ are studying the possibility of launching capsule railcars in Ukraine.
“This is a completely different experience for passengers, and an understanding of where to look for UZ as a company. But for now, these are far-reaching plans”, Kamyshyn said.
