CFR announced a tender for a project to modernize the Pozorata – Suceava railway line
The Romanian National Railway Company CFR has announced an open tender for the development of a feasibility study and technical project for the modernization of the Pozorata – Suceava railway line with a length of about 85 km. The result of the implementation of the measures should be an increase in the maximum speed of passenger trains up to 160 km/h, freight – up to 120 km/h. The estimated value of the contract is 42.7 million lei (2 million euros), informs railway magazine Railway Supply citing a CFR press release.
The aim of the project is “the integration of sustainable transport between the central and north-eastern regions of the country, ensuring the social and economic development of the crossed territories, increasing the economic competitiveness of Romania, increasing the number of passengers and the volume of goods transported in the TEN-T network”.
Funding is 85% from non-refundable European funds and 15% from national funds. The implementation period is 23 months.
The deadline for accepting proposals for the development of a feasibility study is March 29, 2021.
