The contract for the supply of 15 mixed AC electric locomotives of the BKG2 series has been signed between Belarusian Railways, China National Electric Import & Export Corp and CRRC Datong, reports Railway Supply magazine citing the Railway Gazette.

The € 64.3 million contract agreed on December 29 is financed by the Exim Bank of China. The delivery of the locomotives is scheduled for the end of 2023. The Belarusian Railways previously purchased 30 freight locomotives from CRRC Datong, ordering 12 two-section Bo-Bo + Bo-Bo BKG1 locomotives and 18 BKG2 Co-Co locomotives.
“Thanks to our joint contribution to the development of infrastructure and rolling stock, we ensure uninterrupted freight traffic along the China-Europe corridor,” said Vladimir Morozov, General Director of the Belarusian Railway, after signing the contract. “The growth is significant – in 2015 the volume of container traffic amounted to 59,900 TEU, and in 2020 – 540,000 TEU.
