Alstom equips railway line in Egypt with signaling system
Alstom has installed and commissioned a SIL 4 electronic interlocking and signaling system on the Deirut section of the Beni Suef – Assut railway in Egypt. The solution includes a SCADA support and control system and 11 kV power substation, informs railway magazine Railway Supply citing a press release from Alstom

The equipment is designed for train speeds of 160 km/h. The section is 100 km long with 7 stations and 32 railway crossings.
Alstom has been a partner of the Egyptian Railways since 1971. The company’s current projects include the modernization of the signaling system on the Beni Sueife – Assut line (240 km) and the construction of two monorail lines in Cairo.
