€9.1M Rail Baltica Contract Propels Lithuanian Regional Hub Modernization
25.05.2026
Rail Baltica regional stations in Lithuania are entering a new project stage after LTG Infra signed two contracts for infrastructure design and construction supervision. Sintagma, an Italian engineering company, won both tenders.

The agreements relate to the future Jonava stop and the Panevėžys (Gustonys) passenger station. In the official Rail Baltica project announcement on the Sintagma station infrastructure contracts, the Jonava design and supervision package is valued at EUR 2.18 million. The larger Panevėžys (Gustonys) package is worth EUR 7 million, including VAT.
Rail Baltica regional stations designed for regional access
LTG Infra, Lithuania’s railway infrastructure manager, said the work is part of the wider Rail Baltica station infrastructure programme. The current contracts deal with infrastructure, not the station buildings, which will be designed under separate projects.
Arūnas Rumskas, interim CEO of the LTG Group, said regional infrastructure covers more than the railway line itself. It also includes links, stations and passenger stops that connect rail with other modes of transport. “Regional infrastructure includes not only the railway itself, but also the connections, stations, and passenger stops that integrate rail transport with other modes of transport. The more convenient and accessible the infrastructure is, the better the connectivity between regions. The Rail Baltica infrastructure is designed and implemented in accordance with the highest standards of sustainable and efficient mobility,” he said.
Sintagma will design the infrastructure for the Panevėžys (Gustonys) passenger station and the Jonava stop. The scope includes utility networks, railway lines, access roads, viaducts and platforms. Four platforms are planned in the Panevėžys district, while two are planned in Jonava.
Sintagma to design railway station infrastructure
The signed contracts require the infrastructure to meet modern functional standards. That includes safe and convenient passenger access, along with clear wayfinding and passenger information systems.
Sintagma presents its work through major infrastructure design and supervision projects, with railway, road and bridge design among the areas relevant to the Rail Baltica regional station contracts.
Vytautas Radzevičius, Director of Strategy and Business Development at LTG Group, said Rail Baltica is also creating economic value by involving companies from different EU member states. “Rail Baltica is not only developing transport infrastructure but also creating economic value across Europe by involving companies from various EU member states. This stimulates competition, innovation, and the exchange of expertise, while also offering regions in Lithuania the opportunity to become an active part of European economic value chains,” he said.
Design phase to run for 24 months
Design services are scheduled to be completed within 24 months. Once that phase is finished, construction contracts will be signed, and Sintagma will provide construction supervision services.
For LTG Infra, the contracts are another step in preparing Rail Baltica regional stations for modern mobility needs. The wider regional mobility context is also reflected in Railway Supply’s coverage of Rail Baltica regional trains planned across the Baltics. The focus in these agreements remains on railway station infrastructure, while the station buildings will be developed through separate projects.
