Chinese Railways will receive new high-speed trains

China National Railways (CR) will receive 14 new eight-car high-speed trains from Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST) in January 2021, under a contract agreed in 2018, reports Railway Supply magazine citing RailJournal.

The total contract value is 1.6 billion RMB (US $ 248 million). The maximum operating speed of the CR300AF is 250 km/h. Ten of the 14 trains are intended for the Fuping railway in Fujian province and four for the Meizhou-Shantou dedicated passenger line in Guangdong province.

Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST), a joint venture between Bombardier Transportation and Sifang Locomotive, has previously supplied 448 CR400AF and CR400AF-A wagons to China National Railways (CR). In January, the company also entered into a short-term maintenance contract for high-speed trains worth 2.45 billion yuan.
