Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service expands to 13 daily round trips
14.01.2026
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service between Los Angeles and San Diego is set to return to pre-pandemic service levels later this month, with a 13th Pacific Surfliner round trip being added to the schedule.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Los Angeles–San Diego–San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency said the new round trip will start on Jan. 26, as outlined in a Pacific Surfliner press release.
LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency Chair and Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung said the expanded Los Angeles–San Diego train service gives passengers more options for commuting, business travel, and leisure trips along the coast.
A limited-time fare offer will also be available. Between Jan. 26 and March 13, passengers can use the Surfliner 20% discount code V526 to receive 20% off Surfliner trips, as noted by Amtrak Media.
LOSSAN Managing Director Jason Jewell said adding the 13th round trip is a milestone in fully restoring pre-pandemic service levels and widening the range of travel times for passengers.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service schedule and frequency
With the updated schedule, the Surfliner will offer 13 daily round trips between Los Angeles and San Diego. The service plan also includes five daily round trips between San Diego and Goleta, as well as two round trips between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.
Funding and planned track closures near Los Angeles Union Station
The additional round trip was funded through a $27.1 million grant from the Federal Railroad Administration’s Restoration and Enhancement Grant Program, which was previously covered by Railway Supply. Riders should also plan for a temporary disruption: there will be no train service and no bus bridge at all south of L.A.’s Union Station during the weekend of Jan. 24 to 25 due to track closures.
Pacific Surfliner route distance and stations
The Pacific Surfliner route covers 351 miles and serves 29 stations from San Diego to San Luis Obispo.
