The Chinese CRRC battery tram-train successfully carried passengers for the first time in Argentina

The trial on a 20-kilometer stretch of the tourist narrow-gauge line from Volcan to Tilcara included the participation of Governor Gerardo Morales, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
However, the rolling stock will undergo operational tests before the full commercial launch, scheduled for March 2024—eight years later than initially planned due to funding issues, miscalculations, and other factors.
The maneuver locomotive manufacturer is expanding production
The two-car trains, delivered in September under a 2022 contract, are equipped with two lithium iron phosphate batteries totaling 352 kWh, installed on the roof.
The panoramic-windowed interior accommodates 72 passengers, and driver cabins are located on both sides of the train.
