Aglaja Schneider Siemens Mobility UK — Siemens Mobility has confirmed a leadership appointment, naming Aglaja Schneider as Joint Chief Executive Officer for its UK and Ireland business, as outlined in a Siemens UK announcement.

Her start date is 1 January 2026, and she will also take on the role of Managing Director for Rolling Stock and Customer Services.

Schneider will replace Sambit Banerjee, who is retiring after a 30-year career with Siemens. She joins the UK & Ireland leadership team alongside Rob Morris, Joint UK&I chief executive officer, and Marko Feulner, chief financial officer and chair of the board UK&I.

Michael Peter, CEO and managing director of Siemens Mobility, said the appointment comes at a key point for rail in Britain and Ireland. He highlighted plans to deliver Britain’s first battery bi-mode trains from Goole, move forward with Chippenham digital signalling—an area also referenced in Railway Supply reporting—and support training for the next generation of rail engineers in Northampton. He added that the UK and Ireland remain important markets for the company and said the leadership team is well placed to help transform rail travel and transport, backed by an innovative and sustainable rail portfolio.
Rolling Stock and Customer Services focus for Aglaja Schneider
Schneider brings extensive Siemens Mobility leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Project Director for the Piccadilly line and Head of the London Deep Tube Upgrade Programme, where she led work on one of the UK’s most significant rail programmes. The effort is aimed at delivering the next generation of Tube trains to improve capacity, accessibility and the overall passenger experience.

Speaking about the move, Schneider said she is excited to step into the Joint CEO position as the UK rail industry enters what she described as a transformative phase.
She pointed to rail reform accelerating and Great British Railways bringing track and train closer together to improve passenger journeys, a direction also set out by the UK Department for Transport.
She added that this moment calls for bold thinking and strong collaboration, and said she will continue working with partners and customers to help transform rail travel and transport for everyone.
