The expansion brings radio cab services and integrated mobility facilities to the two stations. Similar arrangements were earlier introduced at Ahmedabad Junction and Sabarmati stations.

As reported by The Times of India, railway officials said the initiative is aimed at smoother, faster and more convenient station access. It covers passengers using key railway hubs in Ahmedabad. Also, the facilities focus on access to app-based cab, auto and bike services. These services are meant for passengers arriving at or departing from the stations.

Western Railway radio cab services and last-mile access

According to officials, Sabarmati station has become a major point for first- and last-mile connectivity. The change followed the launch of a dedicated radio cab Traveller’s Lounge. Since Oct 2025, the facility has handled more than 1.5 lakh bike rides. It has also handled over two lakh auto rides and more than one lakh cab bookings.

At Ahmedabad Junction, an integrated transit hub is managed by a radio cab operator. It was introduced to streamline passenger movement and support seamless onward connectivity. The facility includes a dedicated assistance kiosk and on-ground support staff. In addition, it has an elevated parking zone directly connected to the foot overbridge. It also provides organised boarding management for more than 1.10 lakh passengers using the station daily.

App-based mobility at Ahmedabad railway stations

Officials said the Ahmedabad Junction transit hub has recorded more than 10 lakh cab bookings since Sep 2025. They said the figure underlines the growing reliance on app-based mobility services. The services are used for station access and onward travel.

Encouraged by the passenger response at these locations, railway authorities have now decided to extend similar connectivity solutions. The extension applies to Maninagar and Vatva stations. In addition, officials said the expansion forms part of efforts to strengthen urban mobility. It is also aimed at improving passenger convenience across Ahmedabad’s railway network.
