Ukraine has developed alternative strategies in the event of the cessation of the “grain corridor”
28.06.2023
The government of Ukraine, together with participants in the grain market, has developed a series of alternative strategies that would allow for the continued export of agricultural products in the event of the cessation of the “grain corridor”. This was announced by Taras Vysotskyi, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, as reported by Railway Supply, citing Rail.insider.
According to the official, among the developed strategies are the expansion of the throughput capacity of the Danube region and the increase in grain handling capabilities there. Additionally, there is an ongoing implementation of additional border crossing points and dry ports on the western border with Poland and Romania.
“Alternative measures are actively being developed, essentially finalized, and should help Ukraine continuously contribute to international food security and ensure exports,” he emphasized.

Taras Vysotskyi reminded that the state budget for 2023 includes 20 billion UAH for potential insurance of vessels carrying Ukrainian grain, which would be ready to continue operations in the event of the cessation of the “grain corridor”.
The First Deputy Minister expressed hope that, despite all the difficulties in the export process from a financial perspective, the indicators of agricultural product exports would be close to those of the previous year.
He pointed out that price dynamics change every day. Information about adverse conditions in the United States has affected corn, causing prices to rise. Therefore, it is premature to speak about final grain prices. They will become known closer to September, when the vegetative period on our hemisphere concludes. Ultimately, at the very least, with minimal deviation, exports will approach last year’s figures,” concluded the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is almost 100% certain that the Russian Federation will withdraw from the “grain agreement” in July.
