Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made the announcement. He said Türasaş will build 41 units for the Ministry of National Defense’s fueling and supply activities.

He described rail infrastructure as a strategic element of national defense. He said the ministry supports projects that strengthen military logistics through domestic industrial capacity. Meanwhile, the new production program follows the earlier delivery of 9 fuel and supply railcars. According to the Turkish transport ministry, 41 additional units are to be built. The military’s total will reach 50 railcars.

Uraloğlu said, “this equipment will play a vital role in ensuring the safe transport of fuel and resources necessary for military operations, thereby strengthening the logistical capacity of the armed forces.”

The Türasaş Regional Division in Sivas is handling the vehicles’ design and production. The minister described the process as fully national and domestic.

Separately, Uraloğlu said the programme reflects cooperation between the transport sector and the defense industry. He added that “the new railcars will directly contribute to the security of the military’s energy supply and to increased logistical efficiency.”

Technical standards and fuel transport role

The Zacens-type tank car is built for the transport of liquid chemicals and petroleum products. A TÜRASAŞ technical brochure says these tank railcars comply with TSI, EN, and UIC standards. It also says they are suitable for trans-European traffic on standard-gauge networks of 1,435 mm. Also, each railcar is 15 metres long and has a 64-ton capacity.

Through this investment, Turkiye is reinforcing its military rail transport capability. The aim is to provide safer, faster, and more resilient logistics for the armed forces. This applies in operational and crisis conditions.

In addition, the cars are designed for a high level of operational safety. They include modern leak-protection systems. They also have structural features intended to lower risks in the transport of hazardous materials. As RailwayPro notes, their compatibility with European railway networks and technical standardization also allows them to be integrated into international logistics chains. This includes long-distance transport operations.
