The US International Trade Commission has determined that the Chinese couplers have been subsidized by the Chinese government, resulting in their importation at below-market prices, according to the Railway Supply portal.

anti-dumping duties on Chinese couplers

As a result of the commission’s decision, additional duties will be imposed on certain couplers.

The complaint in this matter was filed by the American coupler manufacturer McConway & Torley and the United Steelworkers union.

After the commission’s decision, the US Department of Commerce will determine the amount of anti-dumping duties to offset the subsidies provided by the Chinese government to its coupler manufacturers.

This is intended to create equal market conditions for American and Chinese companies.
