After testing in Germany, the DDEMU2 train arrived at the VUZ test ring in Velima. The manufacturer expects certification to be completed by mid-2023.

Double-deck multi-system electric train

It is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply.

In May 2021, Austrian carrier Westbahn announced plans to lease 4 DDEMU2 trains. It is noteworthy that earlier CRRC lost to Stadler in the tender for the supply of 15 double-decker trains for €300 million.

The six-car DDEMU2 can reach max. speed 200 km/h and accommodate 571 passengers. It is produced at the factory in Zhuzhou. Full compliance with European TSI requirements is declared. CRRC claims that the two-story compound contains a high percentage of composite materials, at the expense of only 10% heavier than a single-deck.

It is worth noting that the Czech Leo Express recently refused the single-decker Sirius trains ordered from CRRC in 2016. Also, the Chinese offer with a different model did not prove convincing in Romania, where Alstom was preferred.
