National carrier DSB has made changes to the 2011 contract between DSB, infrastructure operator Banedanmark, and two divisions of Siemens Mobility for the maintenance of signaling systems on the Copenhagen S-tog urban railway, according to the Railway Supply  journal.

Siemens to supply signaling systems

The changes include testing, supply, and technical maintenance of onboard train control devices via the CBTC radio channel for 226 newly planned highly automated trains with GoA4 level of automation.

An option for equipping an additional 100 trains is also included. Integration with the existing signaling and train control system, which Siemens completed installation of in 2022, is a mandatory requirement.

DSB emphasizes that Siemens is the only company capable of supplying the mentioned devices, allowing the procurement to proceed without a tender.
