These hubs include King Abdulaziz Port, King Fahd Industrial Port, and Jubail Commercial Port. Additionally, this creates a streamlined land route to the northern border. Cargo can reach Jordan and other regional destinations from there. In addition, the service uses a single national rail system.

Connecting Gulf Ports to the Northern Border

Operations on the corridor support bi-directional transport. This allows containers to move from Gulf ports to the border and back. Meanwhile, they use the same tracks for return trips. SAR anticipates faster transit times than traditional road freight options. Separately, Railway-News noted that this rail connection improves efficiency. At the same time, shifting volumes to tracks helps integrate regional supply chains.

Capacity of the International Rail Freight Corridor

Each train running the route can carry more than 400 standard containers. This transition from road to rail will change how regional highways function. Also, it removes many heavy goods vehicles from the road network. Such a shift improves road safety and maintenance. At the same time, it lowers overall emissions. The corridor serves as a tool for strengthening logistics infrastructure. Additionally, it facilitates export and re-export activities throughout the Middle East.
