Russian Railways reduced the load due to the cessation of transportation to and through Ukraine

Loading of the railway network of the aggressor country in March 2022 decreased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 106.7 million tons.
This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to RZD-Partner.
The message of the railway carrier of the Russian Federation notes that the main reason for the decrease in load was the cessation of transportation of goods to Russia and through Ukraine.
Freight turnover of the Russian Railways network in March of this year increased by 3.1%, to 243.3 billion tariff tkm. Cargo turnover, taking into account the run of empty cars, increased by 2.2% over this period, to 293 billion tkm.
The company’s press release states that in general, in January-March 2022, 307.9 million tons were shipped.
This is 0.2% more than in the same period last year.
At the same time, since the beginning of the year, freight turnover, taking into account the run of empty cars, decreased by 0.4%, to 829.4 billion tkm, compared to the same period last year.
As previously reported, on February 24, Russian Railways introduced restrictions on freight traffic to Ukraine.
