RITES Mozambique diesel locomotives order has been confirmed via a letter of intent from ICVL Mozambique, with the details set out in a BSE filing released on Tuesday and also reported by Economic Times.

RITES, a state-owned engineering consultancy, said it will supply new Cape gauge diesel-electric locomotives to the Mozambican customer.

Valued at $20.6 million, the contract covers more than the rolling stock itself. Alongside delivery, it includes preventive maintenance services and the supply of consumable spares at site, as outlined in the BSE filing and referenced by Club of Mozambique. RITES added that the order was awarded by an international entity and does not involve any domestic party.

Under the agreement, RITES is expected to complete the supply within 15 months. After the locomotives are delivered, the contract provides for a further 24-month maintenance period. The company has not disclosed the number of locomotives included in the deal.
