Port of Savannah rail container moves: volume and rail performance

In total, the Port of Savannah handled 5.7 million 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containerized cargo in 2025, according to a Georgia Ports Authority press release. The figure was 2.6% higher than in 2024, making 2025 the port’s second-highest record.

Faster marine vessel to train transfer time

GPA also pointed to quicker rail handoffs. The port reduced the average time it takes to move a container from marine vessel to train from 28 hours to 22 hours in 2025.
