The contract includes production of locomotives, certification, training of PCC Intermodal employees and full service. In addition, the contract allows one more locomotive to be ordered.
Traxx MS3 locomotives will be used for cross-border traffic between Poland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
All four locomotives will be commissioned by the end of 2022. The MS version can handle the four voltages commonly found in Europe and belongs to Traxx, the most advanced four-axle locomotive platform in Europe. It consists of Traxx AC3 (AC), Traxx MS3 (multi system, suitable for most lines in Europe) and Traxx DC3. The Traxx platform was introduced 15 years ago and today 1,750 Traxx locomotives are used on European railways.
