USA: Norfolk Southern crossing closures in Ottawa County, Ohio, are scheduled in three overlapping phases through Aug. 14, affecting eight county and township roads while work continues at multiple crossings.

Closures already in effect through Aug. 12

The first group affects Toussaint Portage (TR 92) between Christian Road and Salem Carroll Road and Benton Carroll (CR 23) between Salem Carroll and Bier Road. Those crossings are scheduled to remain closed through Aug. 12.

The work is being carried out by Norfolk Southern and was reported by the Ottawa County Engineer’s Office. The closure notice identifies the affected road sections but does not specify detour routes.

More roads close Aug. 10 and Aug. 11

From Aug. 10 through Aug. 14, four more roads are scheduled to close at railroad crossings. Lickert Harder (CR 22) and Rocky Ridge (CR 75) will be closed between True Road and Toussaint North Road. Graytown (CR 19) will close between Moline Martin Road and Trowbridge Road, while Trowbridge (TR 67) will be closed between Elliston Trowbridge Road and Graytown Road.

Two additional closures are scheduled from Aug. 11 through Aug. 14. Walbridge East Road (Route 68) will close between Opfer Lentz Road and Nissen Road, while Opfer Lentz Road (TR 214) will be closed between Walbridge East Road and Ohio 579.

Drivers should check for updates before travel

The published closure schedule does not provide detour routes, so motorists should not assume a particular alternate route around the work. Ottawa County’s official road-closure page gives drivers a direct place to check for closure information before traveling.

The listed end date is Aug. 12 for the first group and Aug. 14 for the remaining six roads. Because the closures are staggered and several begin on different days, drivers should verify the latest county information before entering the affected areas.
