Malmö–Norrland freight service operator Real Rail Sweden will shift the southern starting point of its Skåne–Norrland route from Helsingborg to Malmö on 14 December 2026.

The revised Malmö–Nässjö–Umeå–Luleå service⁠ will operate Monday to Friday, retaining the current northbound structure through Nässjö while extending Real Rail’s southern Sweden offer from the Helsingborg area to Malmö. Real Rail said this will allow customers in northern Sweden to send freight to Malmö within a single transport chain, with door-to-door delivery provided through its logistics service.

Real Rail Sweden shifts its Skåne–Norrland origin

Real Rail is part of Sandahls and operates as a rail freight company. Sandahls describes it as a separate business focused on long-distance rail freight, with weekday departures linking southern and northern Sweden.

The current Sandahls listing for the Real Rail network includes weekday services on Göteborg/Falköping–Sundsvall, Göteborg–Umeå, Falköping–Umeå/Luleå, Västerås–Umeå/Luleå, Nässjö–Umeå/Luleå and Helsingborg–Umeå/Luleå. In this context, the Malmö adjustment replaces Helsingborg as the origin point on the Skåne–Norrland axis. It does not create an entirely separate northern corridor.

Sandahls T26 timetable shows current Helsingborg links

Sandahls’ T26 customer timetable⁠, which runs from 14 December 2025 to 12 December 2026, currently lists Helsingborg–Umeå and Helsingborg–Luleå services on weekdays. The latest hand-in time is 18:30. Southbound services from Luleå and Umeå to Helsingborg are also shown from Monday to Friday, with the first collection in Helsingborg listed at 06:00.

The T26 terminal opening schedule⁠ includes Real Rail terminals in Luleå, Umeå, Sundsvall, Västerås, Falköping, Nässjö/Gamlarp, Göteborg and Helsingborg. Nässjö/Gamlarp is shown with weekday opening hours from 06:00 to 22:00, reflecting its role as a southern Sweden node in the Real Rail network.

Traxx AC2 locomotives support northern routes

Real Rail has also increased traction flexibility on routes in northern Sweden. Its Traxx AC2 locomotives are fully approved for use in Sweden and Norway with ETCS onboard. This allows them to operate on the Botniabanan and Ådalsbanan, as well as on other ETCS-equipped routes where required.

Across its network, Real Rail operates eight departures per day, five days a week. The company uses its own production resources and timetable, combining rail line-haul services with road-based collection and delivery.
