Alstom plans to supply 1600-1800 wagon bogies, produced annually in Hungary at the Alstom (Mátranovak) plant, to most of its European factories.

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to Kurier Kolejowy.

Railway wagons from Hungary are currently exported exclusively to Germany and France, where they are assembled for railway operators in Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium and Sweden.

Mátranovak, one of the leading employers and manufacturers in the Hungarian market, produces high quality welded steel wagons for passenger and high-speed trains, metro and trams, 100% of which are exported to factories in Europe.

The planned improvements will increase not only the volume of production, but also its added value in the local market. In the future, Alstom plans to supply most of its European factories with wagons manufactured in Hungary.

In the coming years, Alstom plans to increase its current headcount at its Hungarian plant, which currently employs 660 people. Exports from the Alstom Matranovak plant are 35-40 million euros per year and are expected to increase.

To achieve this, the company will rely on its network of suppliers, which includes about 150 Hungarian companies, and plans to increase its purchases in Hungary to about 3 billion 700 million forints (approximately 10 million euros).

The Hungarian plant is part of the Alstom cluster in Central and Eastern Europe, which employs 7,000 people and has production and sales offices in nine and eight countries, respectively.
