LA Metro computer hack shuts down internal systems

On Thursday, officials cited a “security concern.” Meanwhile, Metro shut down several internal systems. At the same time, it moved to restrict access to its administrative computer network. Still, officials said train and bus operations were not affected. In addition, they said rider safety and service schedules remained intact.

TAP card and arrival board problems

Separately, some digital arrival boards went blank. For example, customers trying to load funds onto their TAP cards had problems online. Also, they had problems at ticket kiosks, as reported by the New York Post. Meanwhile, Metro urged riders to load funds at vending machines where possible.

Still, the agency said customer and employee data had not been compromised. In addition, rail and bus services continued as normal.
