Inland Rail Euroa underpass work at Handbury Street in Euroa is now visible, with the pedestrian underpass taking shape as part of the Inland Rail project. Inland Rail says major components were lifted into position earlier this month, as outlined in an Inland Rail project update.

The Handbury Street pedestrian underpass Euroa is one of two new connections in the Euroa Station Precinct upgrade. Crews used a 450-tonne crane to install six concrete sections, each weighing between 26 and 28 tonnes, as reported by Rail Express.

Inland Rail says the 13.5-metre long underpass will be “light and bright”. The passage will be 3.3 metres high and 4.7 metres wide. It will be accessible by stairs and ramps and will provide improved cyclist access through the precinct.

A second pedestrian underpass is also being installed at Euroa railway station. It is planned to include lifts, along with ramps and stairs, which Railway Supply also notes in its coverage of the Euroa station upgrade works.

Beyond the two underpasses, Inland Rail is modifying the precinct to provide sufficient clearance for double-stacked freight trains to use the line. When the station works are complete, the area is expected to include a new Anderson Street vehicle underpass, two pedestrian underpasses, a second station platform, additional car parking, a community forecourt and a network of pathways to better connect nearby parklands and open spaces.

Inland Rail is a 1600-kilometre freight railway that will connect Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
