Indiana & Ohio Railway labor agreement faces March 19 vote

The Indiana & Ohio Railway labor agreement has moved to the ratification stage. Also, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen announced a tentative deal with IORY.

Indiana & Ohio Railway labor agreement terms
According to a BLET press release, the proposed contract would run through 2031. Meanwhile, that term would apply if members approve it. In addition, the deal includes a 7% general wage increase in 2026. Still, it provides 4.5% general wage increases each year from 2027 through 2030. Separately, it sets a 3% general wage increase in 2031. At the same time, ballots for the ratification vote are due March 19.
BLET and IORY contract details
BLET officials said the agreement also includes a one-time $2,000 signing bonus. Meanwhile, it raises training pay, meal and lodging allowances, safety boot allowances, and bereavement leave.
Separately, IORY is owned by Genesee & Wyoming Inc. and is based in Cincinnati. Also, as Genesee & Wyoming notes, the railroad operates over 511 miles of track. In addition, that network extends across western Ohio, southeast Indiana and southeast Michigan.
