Czech Railways (ČD) will receive financing from the EIB for new rolling stock

This two-car train is scheduled to enter passenger service between Augsburg and Füssen, as well as between Augsburg and Peißenberg on the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) network in mid-2024.

This six-month pilot project is carried out with the support of Bavarian authorities, and an agreement with Siemens Mobility was signed in the summer of 2021.

The goal is to completely phase out diesel traction in Bavaria by 2040.

On the roofs of the Mireo Plus H train cars, two hydrogen fuel cell modules and a lithium-ion battery storage unit are installed.
