The agreement is scheduled to begin in 2026. As reported by Railway-News, Hitachi Rail will provide technical expertise for managing obsolescence across the NEL’s ISCS.

Long-Term Support For North East Line ISCS

Hitachi Rail has worked with SBS Transit Rail since 2003. At that time, it supported the original ISCS for SBS Transit’s first MRT line. The new initiative marks a significant milestone for Hitachi Rail’s local footprint in Singapore. It also supports the expansion of technical capabilities in the country and continued rail reliability.

Over the next 15 years, the programme is expected to provide sustained support for the ISCS. According to Railway International, it is also intended to help meet operational targets, reduce reliance on short-term fixes, and support existing rail operations.

The ISCS integrates monitoring and control functions for key line systems. It helps support safe and efficient railway operations.

Cyrille Bataille, Head of APAC Market at Hitachi Rail, said:

We’re extending our long-standing collaboration with SBS Transit.

This support contract will help address system obsolescence in a structured way and support reliable operations on the North East Line.
