This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

With the new train schedule taking effect on January 26, the station will switch its main focus to high-speed rail operations and will no longer handle the departure or arrival of conventional passenger trains, as reported by PEARL.

Service changes under the January 26 new train schedule

Once the January 26 new train schedule comes into force, Guangzhou Station will take over 50 Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Rail services that previously started at Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station, according to NewsGD.

This shift places the station within the core network of major high-speed lines, including the Beijing-Guangzhou, Guiyang-Guangzhou, Nanning-Guangzhou, and Guangzhou-Shantou railways, strengthening links with North China as well as the Northwest and Southwest. The upgrade also adds a new connection: Guangzhou Station will begin its first direct bullet train service to Yan’an.

Guangzhou Baiyun Station refocuses on conventional train services

At the same time, six conventional train services that originally started from Guangzhou Station have been relocated to the newer Guangzhou Baiyun Station. After the change, Baiyun Station will focus on conventional train services while also handling high-speed rail services for the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway (Guangzhan HSR), a corridor recently discussed by Railway Supply.

More cross-provincial services and extra Guangzhan HSR trains

Beyond the initial handover of Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Rail services, Guangzhou Station will introduce 22 cross-provincial high-speed train services from the Nanning-Guangzhou and Guiyang-Guangzhou lines, strengthening connections across South China and Southwest China.

Another key element of the Guangzhou Railway Station high-speed rail upgrade is the stepped-up service on the Guangzhan HSR. From February 2, additional temporary passenger trains will run directly between Guangzhou Station and Zhanjiang North Station, bringing the two city centers closer than ever before, as outlined by NewsGD.

The schedule is as follows:

From February 2 to 14: an additional G5279 train will depart from Guangzhou Station to Zhanjiang North.

From February 3 to 15: an additional G5280 train will return from Zhanjiang North to Guangzhou Station.

Tickets for the new and additional services will be available through the official 12306 website and mobile app. Further updates on specific schedules and ticket availability will be released in due course.
