A train derailment near Warroad prompted an evacuation order after a train left the tracks near the Minnesota-Canada border, according to KSTP.

Train derailment near Warroad prompts emergency response
The Roseau County Sheriff’s Office said the derailment happened just before 5 a.m. north of Warroad. As CBS Minnesota reported, 42 traincars derailed, and two of them were identified as “dangerous goods cars.”
Emergency crews and railway personnel remain at the scene, where cleanup work is continuing. The sheriff’s office said the response could take two to three days.
Hazardous materials teams check derailed cars
Hazardous materials teams from International Falls and Grand Rapids are also on site. They are carrying out air monitoring and checking the derailed cars for leaks.
Authorities said there are no environmental concerns and no threat to the public at this time, according to Lakeland PBS.
Evacuation order near Warroad covers Highway 313 area
The sheriff’s office said the evacuation zone runs along Highway 313 from 400th Street to County Road 137. People are being told to stay away from the area, and residents inside the evacuation zone are advised to shelter at the Patch Motel in Warroad.
