Port of Los Angeles MOU Establishes Shenzhen Partnership

The Port of Los Angeles MOU with Yantian International Container Terminals and Shenzhen Port Group formalizes a sister-port partnership among the three organizations in Shenzhen, China.

The port ⁠announced the agreement in a press release.

Port of Los Angeles MOU cooperation framework

The agreement provides a framework for clean energy cooperation, sustainable technologies, logistics, maritime innovation, port operations and supply chain development.

“This agreement creates new opportunities to share innovation, advance sustainable port operations and build more resilient supply chains,” said Port of L.A. Executive Director Gene Seroka. “Together, we’re helping shape a cleaner, more efficient future for global trade.”

Representatives signed the document during the Global Supply Chain High-Quality Development Conference in Shenzhen. Participants included ports, ocean carriers, manufacturers, cargo owners, government agencies and industry associations.

Green shipping initiative and rail service

During the conference, Port of Los Angeles representatives also participated in the launch of the International Green Shipping Corridor Cooperation Initiative. The initiative seeks to lower greenhouse gas emissions while supporting more sustainable global supply chains.

The Port of Los Angeles already has Green Shipping Corridor agreements with partners in several countries. These include Shanghai and Guangzhou in China; Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya in Japan; as well as Singapore and Vietnam.

Pacific Harbor Line ⁠provides on-dock rail service to the Port of Los Angeles marine terminals and interchanges with BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.
