DFCCIL comprehensive inspection across key EDFC sections

Meanwhile, DFCCIL carried out the review on March 24 and 25, 2026. It covered these sections, as DFCCIL noted:

  • New Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya–New Unchdih section
  • New Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya–New Chiraila Pauthu section

Also, Shri Atul Kumar, CGM/DDU, led the inspection. It reaffirmed the organization’s focus on safety, efficiency, and operational performance across the corridor.

On the first day, officials conducted a window trailing exercise in both the UP and DOWN directions. This gave the team a close view of track conditions and infrastructure quality. It also allowed a close assessment of operational efficiency across the corridor.

Separately, the team visited multiple stations to assess ongoing developments. It also verified compliance with safety protocols. The review covered the proposed Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at New Mirzapur. The project is expected to support freight logistics and multimodal connectivity.

Freight corridor safety and monitoring systems under review

At the same time, the first day also covered the Kavach system. Officials examined the advanced train collision avoidance system. They sought to confirm that modern safety technologies are being implemented effectively across the corridor.

For example, the second day shifted to detailed safety and system checks. These checks were tied to railway operations. The inspection covered:

  • points and crossings for track switching reliability
  • anemometers for monitoring wind conditions
  • Container Rail Terminal (CRT) operations
  • Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) systems
  • Long Welded Rails (LWR) for track stability
  • Auto Tensioning Devices (ATD) in overhead equipment
  • automatic switching in ACO panels
  • fire alarm and detection systems
  • Mobile Vehicle Inspection Systems (MVIS)
  • voice recording systems of VFC

Meanwhile, Rail Analysis reported that officials carried out an operational records compliance review. They checked procedural adherence and documentation accuracy. The registers examined included:

  • joint point and crossing registers
  • signal failure registers
  • relay room opening records
  • assurance registers
  • Veeder counter records
  • PME (Periodic Medical Examination) registers

Operational records compliance review and staff guidance

Still, officials provided on-site guidance and counselling to staff. This was meant to strengthen adherence to established safety standards. The exercise was not limited to identifying gaps. In addition, it sought to improve awareness and preparedness among operational teams.

The inspection team included:

  • Shri Shravan Kumar (GM/OP&BD)
  • Shri J.K. Singh (AGM/Civil-1)
  • Shri Rajesh Agarwal (AGM/Civil-2)
  • other unit representatives

Their participation highlighted the coordinated effort involved in maintaining high operational standards across the route.

Also, DFCCIL continued work aimed at strengthening infrastructure. It continued work on operational readiness on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. This came through detailed evaluations, advanced technology checks, and staff engagement. The review also supported efficient freight movement. It also supported a more robust railway network in India.
