Next year, Ukrzaliznytsia is going to purchase at least 100 new carriages – 30 sleeping cars and 70 sitting ones. This was announced by the head of the company Alexander Kamyshin during the presentation of the new railcars. “Next year, we plan to purchase at least 100 new cars – 30 will be sleeping and 70 will be seated,” he said.

In 2021, the company signed a contract for UAH 3 billion with the Kryukovskiy Railcar Building Plant for 100 new sleeping cars, informs Railway Supply magazine citing Mintans.

This contract stipulated that the company will receive 10 cars at the end of December this year, and the rest in 2022. But the plant met the wishes of UZ and passengers and delivered 20 cars this year.

Therefore, we are going ahead of schedule,” said the head of Ukrzaliznytsia. According to him, the company plans to renew 500 railcars in the next three years. In general, the number of railcars requiring renewal reaches 1,500. Kamyshin also added that this year Ukrzaliznytsia purchased five diesel trains.

Next year we expect two more new diesel trains, which we plan to receive at the end of the first quarter and also send regional express trains on the routes,” he said.
